Re: Keeper next year
Ferguson was always a bit iffy. Quite short from memory. It was a revelation when we signed Parkes, who seemed secure and reliable.

Actually, it was a world record

Re: Keeper next year
Bobby Ferguson was a record transfer fee for a GK at the time

Re: Keeper next year
We did break the world record for a keeper in 1979 £500,000 for Phil Parkes.......those were the days!

claypole

correct, the last first team keeper that we paid money for was Rob Green in 2006, and he started his career with us on the bench!

Re: Keeper next year
It must be well over 10 years since we paid a transfer fee for a keeper so that will show you where we will be heading in the summer. The position is supposed to be worth 10 points a season but has probably cost us that.

Re: Keeper next year
I think even De Gea, Lloris or Courtois would be flapping around like fishes out of water with our defence doing their Keystone Cop routine each week.

Re: Keeper next year
Much lower wage.......say he even accepts HALF of what he is on.....which he wont....but for arguments sake lets ay he does
70k a week is still too much

5p would be too much.

Re: Keeper next year
Looks like he'll be starting.

Hart can't play.

Trevor B 5:22 Tue Apr 24
Re: Keeper next year
Well, you'd expect him to start seeing as Hart can't play against the team that owns him.......

The official INSTA account has just stuck a photo of Adrian up with the quote "It's my job to try and stop Manchester City. I know I will be very busy, but I'll do my best"

Looks like he'll be starting.

Re: Keeper next year
For me has to be Butland

In the Premier League i consider only Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal to be a bigger draw than us. Some people would argue Everton but we are on a par with them (plus they have Pickford).

With the exception of Liverpool, all clubs mentioned have better goalkeepers than Butland.

Therefore, this is exactly the type of realistic target we should be pursuing.

We cant have another year of point costing, news making blunders.

Buffon said he always wanted to play for West Ham, he's a fan.

Dr Moose 4:40 Tue Apr 24
Re: Keeper next year
Pepe Reina and Buffon are available on a free next season, Buffon is meant to be retiring but could be persuaded to play on, he's 40, but a damn site better than to the 2 we have.

Rossal 4:33 Tue Apr 24
Re: Keeper next year
Yes get where your coming from. Think Hart will demand 100+...but even then i guess youre right....would be biggest shock in the world with those 3 in charge

Eerie Descent 4:26 Tue Apr 24
Re: Keeper next year
Rossal, don't get confused with what you or I think we should do, and what some of us reasonably expect our owners to do.

Joe Hart on a free, 70k a week is right up their strasse.
